It's beautiful the way a photograph can hold our memories for us and remind us of all the little details that are so easy to forget. They mark some of the most profound and precious moments in our lives - like the birth of a new baby. Below are a few from moments just after my daughter was born.
I share this because I want you to know that for me, photography is personal. I love capturing the real moments that are not only beautiful, but that show the connection between you and your family. My goal is to find the beauty in your family and to share it in a natural and authentic way. I want your photos to feel like you.
I love capturing pregnant moms, brand new babies, sweet siblings, silly dads tossing their kiddos up in the air, tender mothers snuggling their newborn, siblings meeting for the very first time, and so many more of those natural moments in life that you just want to remember forever.
What to expect
My photography style is laid-back and fun. This is what you can expect when you book a session with me. I am always sure to grab a few of those traditional posed shots where everyone is smiling and looking at me, but more importantly my goal is to capture the authentic and beautiful moments that make you uniquely you. I will guide you as much as you need it to make sure that those moments unfold naturally.
Family, couples, and maternity sessions usually take place in a predetermined outdoor location. This is flexible and if you have a specific location in mind, I am more than happy to accommodate your wishes. Sessions generally last 1 to 2 hours and include breaks for drinks or snacks as needed. We want to keep those little people as happy as possible! Outdoor sessions are usually scheduled in the evening hours, about 1-2 hours before sunset.
what to wear
Neutrals or soft colors tent to look the best both indoors and outdoors. You want your outfits to coordinate, but not to match exactly. For example, pick a color palette, and then dress everyone accordingly. Or pull 2-3 colors from a pattern in someone's clothing and then dress everyone in those coordinating colors. If you want to add a pop of color or a fun accessory, that is totally fine! I'm happy to consult with you before the shoot if you need any help.
Newborn sessions typically take place in the comfort of your own home about 5-10 days after your sweet little one's arrival. These sessions are usually scheduled in the morning hours, between 10:00 and 11:00 am. I tend not to overly pose my newborns - I'd rather capture them just as they are. I will guide you along the way, so we make sure that mama looks as beautiful as possible and that the newfound love and connection with your precious newborn really shines. I remember what it's like to have a brand new baby at home, so please don't feel the need to clean up the house or do much preparation. Just relax and I'll make sure everything looks as it should when I arrive. I take my time with these shoots - so there will be time to take a break and feed the baby or grab some coffee (me too!).
fresh 48 or hospital sessions
Fresh 48 or Hospital sessions are those that take place within 48 hours of your baby's birth. I wrote a whole blog post dedicated to this very subject. Check it out below for more details about these amazing types of sessions.
after the session
You can expect to have your fully-edited digital gallery within two weeks. Your online gallery will be available to directly download and share your favorite images, depending on which session you choose. If you like, I am happy to help you order any prints, frames, or albums of your images. I feel very strongly that you should adorn your walls with these amazing moments. We live in an age where it so easy for them to be stored on a hard drive and forgotten. Prints and albums also make the most amazing gifts for loved ones.
